Biography



Victoria Ritter has been studying oboe for the past 16 years, and English horn for the past 13 years.  She has also been making reeds for the past 13 years, and distributing them for the past 8 years.

Victoria is a graduate at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where she earned her Masters in Oboe Music Performance under the instruction of Jane Marvine.  Prior to studying in Baltimore, she earned her Bachelors of Music at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where she received a degree in Oboe Music Performance under the instruction of John Dee.

Performance experiences include orchestra, wind symphony, chamber, opera, and festival opportunities, with an emphasis on principal oboe and English horn playing.

Since staying in the Baltimore area post-graduation, Victoria Ritter has  become the oboist for SONAR New Music Ensemble, as well as become a pro freelancing in the greater Baltimore and DC area.  In addition, she  has begun offering her services as a private instructor.  Victoria is skilled at teaching students of all ages - from elementary to early college - with a particular emphasis on preparing students for honors ensemble, district, state, and college auditions.

In addition to teaching lessons, Victoria Ritter makes custom oboe and English horn reeds for players of all levels.  She is currently available for reed making lessons, chamber music coaching sessions and to work as a clinician for an entire oboe section.
